Scottish Ladies Golf Mixed Fortunes at 2012 Spanish Women's Amateur International Stroke-play Championship

2011 St Andrews Junior Ladies Open Champion Jessica Meek from Carnoustie and Alyson McKechin of Elderslie, Scotland, were lying in the top-10 after the opening day's play of the 2012 Spanish Women's Amateur International Stroke-play Championship at Alicante Golf Club. 

Both lady golfers carded one-over-par, 73s to be six strokes adrift of Ha Rang Lee of the host nation.

Jessica birdied the second, eighth, ninth and 14th holes. Alyson birdied the first, sixth, ninth, 11th and 14th holes.

Connie Jaffrey of Troon Porland is tied for 60th position with a +9, 81. Ailsa Summers of Carnoustie Ladies carded a disappinting +12, 84 to be sharing 73rd spot with Lauren Whyte of St Regulus.

Rachel Walker of Dumfries and County Golf Club posted a +15, 87 to be in joint 80th place. Clara Young of North Berwick slumped to a +25, 97 and lies in 88th place from a field of 90 lady golfers.

The Welsh contingent of Amy Boulden (76), Chloe Williams (79) and Katherine O'Connor (79) were reasonably well positioned after the first round and shall require good second rounds to move into contention.
